About

Most of the people in this world take life for granted. They do not think much about the gifts life has given them unless one day life decides to take back what it has granted.

When I got pregnant, I assumed, like most other people out there, that my baby was not going to have any medical conditions and was going to be completely healthy; the odds that my baby may get any disorder - be it chromosomal or genetic was probably nil because I was just 21 and I had no health issues. Up until the 20th week scan I was so confident that my baby was growing normally.

Even when I went in for the Down's syndrome screening at 12 weeks , I was confident that my baby will not have it and that we were wasting money taking such tests. I was right. The result was negative.

Same was my attitude towards the anomaly scan; but the experience wasn't the same. The 20th week anomaly scan changed my life completely.

How does it feel when you realize that your assumptions are wrong? How do you cope up when you realize that life is not as easy or predictable as you think? You break down. Some people remain broken; some find the courage and determination to fix themselves and bounce back.

I have bounced back.

I have loved my baby right from the start and a medical condition that he has will not take away my love for him. Microcephaly is just a word. It doesn't define who he is. He might have a small head , but he has a big heart. He is a fighter and he never gives up .

A special note to expectant parents :  This blog was started with the aim to reach out to as many people as possible , to consider giving birth to babies even after knowing that they may be born with medical issues.

I am not against abortion nor am I advocating for the anti-abortion campaign.No. It is your personal choice and no one can judge you for that.

What I want to say is ...

Give a chance for your little one to see this world. He / she might be a lot better than what the doctors have predicted. If you are willing to put in some extra effort for your little one, he might even overcome his problems completely.

"After all it is your baby, if you do not trust him who else will?".
